With years of experience in environmental science and management, The Chaipattana Foundation and The Department of Environmental Science, Faculty of Environment, Kasetsart University, Thailand are organising the 1st International Conference on Environment, Livelihood, and Services. We wish to exchange and share academic understanding and co-operation together in order to manage global and climate change at the present time and in the future.
The increasing frequency and intensity of rainstorms, floods, typhoons, hurricanes, and sand storms in Asian, European, South and North American and African countries as well as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, droughts and other events in all continents adversely affects the livelihood of people. One major cause of these problems is the greenhouse effect that is intensified by burning organic materials, particularly slash-and-burn agriculture, forest fires, fossil burning, etc. As these previous disasters have induced tangible and intangible losses in more than half of the countries in the world, people are aware that similar disasters may occur in the near future.
The conference is expected to bring together delegates from around the world in professional and academic cooperation to determine how to manage such major environmental problems. Hopefully, well organized management guidelines will be formulated and disseminated not only to participants but also to technocrats, administrators, and planners. At the same time, it is a good opportunity to visit the attractive city of Bangkok which is the most valuable for cultural servicing in tourism.
